JP Allen is a renowned family man and was married to the late Hattie McKee Allen for 35 years. He is the proud father of two daughters and five (5) grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was educated in the Hinds County public school system and attended Utica Junior College and Jackson State College and Auburn State University. After completing his education, Mr. Allen became employed by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services and served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. He retired with (30) years’ service to the State of Mississippi. Mr. Allen’s devotion to the Vocational Rehabilitation department led to his appointment as a board member on the Mississippi Council on Aging by Governor William Winter of Mississippi.
Mr. Allen currently serves as Deacon and Educational Director at Champion Hill M.B. Church in Bolton, MS. His community service includes advisor/insurance agent with the Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home. He also serves as counselor of A&D and Cancer Ministries.
Mr. Allen’s dedication is evidenced by his strong investment in the Body of Christ since 2002. Mr. Allen has conducted over 60 in-depth training sessions on an annual basis on pertinent topics such as, How to Be a Successful Leader in the Church, Training for Leaders and Being a Vessel for the Lord.
His most comprehensive work to-date includes the S.T.E.P.S. Program, a practical guide to developing and maintaining a solid relationship with God. This simple, but profound tool has blessed hundreds to have a closer, more intimate relationship with Christ. Because of the powerful results of the S.T.E.P.S. Program, Phase II of S.T.E.P.S. entitled, the Healing Hurt Teaching Tool was released and both programs have been successfully copyrighted in 2005, taught, and implemented at Champion Hill, Truevine and Mount Olive Churches. The Read, Study, Meditate, Obey and Pray (RSMOP) Practical Teaching Tool was later inserted into the S.T.E.P.S. Program to further enhance teaching practicality. At Truevine Church, Bro. Allen has overseen over 28 ministries and established the 1st Offender’s Program which graduated many students. In addition, he also helped implement the 1st Healing Hurts Conference which included representations from 5 different states and participation of many different local churches.
Mr. Allen has expanded his horizons to International Missions in Pena Blanca and Tegucigalpa, Honduras where he has trained Pastors, leaders, and laypersons. In collaboration with other ministries, Mr. Allen’s training impact has touched the lives of over 700 Honduran people to-date and he and Champion Hill Church were partners in the planting of two churches in Honduras.
He currently serves on the Food Pantry, Retirees on Call (ROC) and the Widow ministries of the True Vine MB Church in Brandon, MS.
As a world traveler and community leader, Mr. Allen’s ministry is expansive. Perhaps his most impressive trait, however, is his willingness to personally provide one-on-one training and in-depth Bible studies brotherhood and men’s ministries. Mr. Allen believes that if he can reach just one (1) person, then his living will not be in vain.
His hobbies include creating training manuals, pamphlets, and lesson plans on a variety of subjects and cooking his award-winning, “Sweet Potato Pie.”
